Leeds United’s appointment of Paul Heckingbottom is proving to be another failed gamble by owner Andrea Radrizzani.

The Italian simply has to consider making a change this summer, especially as the fan base is so disillusioned at present.

Radrizzani should be paying close attention to the unravelling situation at Sheffield United with Chris Wilder.

The Yorkshire Post report Wilder is considering his future at the Blades after a boardroom split.

He said after the loss to Preston: “I want to go forward with this football club. But I can’t do it all on my own. “If it stays the same I don’t think anybody would be surprised if I didn’t question where my career is going.”

Wilder called out the lack of strategy at the club, with no unified voice from above planning for the future.

Leeds fans may question whether Radrizzani has the right plan at their club, but the Italian certainly has a vision, bringing success to the club’s academy this season laying he groundwork for future success.

Wilder demonstrated his ability to handle pressure last season by finally helping Sheffield United win promotion to the Championship after five years of near misses.

Sheffield United’s season this year has been good too, they sit in 11th place, beating Leeds home and away along the way.

He is a manager who appreciates the value of British players, and could help re-align Leeds’ squad which has become over reliant on imports of foreign stars who are simply not up to scratch.

Blades fans will be hoping that Wilder can resolve his differences at Bramall Lane and that his words will get everybody pulling in the same direction.

If the situation unravels further, then Leeds should start making enquiries to see if they can persuade Wilder to jump ship and replace Paul Heckingbottom.
