Leeds United loaned out Samu Saiz in December, but he could be playing Champions League football next season.

Leeds United loanee Samu Saiz might be in an awkward position today.

Saiz left Leeds to join Getafe on a half-season loan in December and the Spanish side could remarkably seal their Champions League qualification today.

Getafe are home to Villarreal this afternoon and if they better Valencia’s result away to Real Valladolid then they will finish in Spain’s top four ahead of Marcelino’s side.

The problem for the Whites loanee is that Getafe don’t intend to sign him this summer, but Valencia do [El Gol Digital].

If Saiz – who scored his first goal for the club on April 28 – helps his current team to a fourth-placed finish then he might be denying himself Champions League football next season, if a move to the Mestalla materialises.

Whatever happens, the 28-year-old seems unlikely to be returning to Leeds at this point following a dismal first half of the season.

According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, United could pocket £6 million by selling Saiz permanently this summer.
