The Leeds United gem is impressing for Doncaster Rovers.

Andy Butler has told The Doncaster Free Press that Leeds United’s Mallik Wilks will be ‘some player’ in the coming years.

Willks left Leeds on loan to join the League One side.

The 20-year-old winger has been a revelation for Rovers, scoring 16 goals across all competitions from the right-hand side of attack.

The Thorp Arch gem has also netted in each of his last three games for Doncaster, and Butler says that Leeds have a proper player on their hands.

He told The Doncaster Free Press: “If I was a left back in this league I’d be scared of him because of the sheer power of the lad.

“He’s so strong for a 20-year-old. He just bats people off. It’s incredible and he’s got a sledgehammer of a left foot.

“On and off the pitch you know what you’re getting from him. Once he gets that self-belief he can be some player.”

Wilks will be looking to make it four goals from four when Plymouth Argyle visit the Keepmoat Stadium this afternoon.

Sixteen goals is one hell of a return, especially from right midfield, and whatever division Leeds are in next season it seems wise to keep him around.

This is a player with a heap of potential and it’s exciting to wonder what Marcelo Bielsa could turn him into.
