The Leeds United striker seems to be struggling in the Netherlands.
If Jay-Roy Grot wants a Leeds United future, he’ll have to work a lot harder.
Grot returned to the Netherlands this past summer to join Vitesse on a season-long loan from the Championship club, whom he joined for £1.5 million in 2017 [The Express].
But it hasn’t been a happy return to his homeland for the big striker, who stands at 6’4.
So far, Grot has managed just one goal in 527 minutes of senior football for the Eredivisie outfit across all competitions.
And the Leeds-owned marksman was subbed at the break in Saturday’s 4-2 win over Fortuna Sittard, who led 1-0 at half-time.
Grot, who was on a booking, did not come back out for the second half after being replaced by former Wolves striker Nouha Dicko.
It remains to be seen whether he was injured or whether it was tactical. Considering that he was already on a yellow card and Vitesse were losing, it’s very plausible that Grot – who’s still only 21 – was simply not playing all that well.
