The Leeds United forward has been linked with a return to Italian football.
Leeds United striker Caleb Ekuban appears to have ruled out a return to Italy.
Ekuban is impressing on loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor, who have the option to sign the Leeds man permanently this summer.
But according to Takvim, as many as three Italian clubs were interested in signing the Verona-born Ghana international.
The Championship club signed the 25-year-old from Chievo Verona in the summer of 2017 but, judging by his latest comments, Ekuban has no intention of returning to his homeland.
He told Takvim: “As I see it every day, this [Trabzonspor] is a project that interests me. Everyone from the youngest to the oldest has respect and is kind. Italy, the people are not so nice. Being in this community makes me very happy.”
It seems like Ekuban has his mind made up and would rather stay in Turkey, with his agent confirming on the weekend [Tuttomercatoweb] that Trabzonspor would take up their option to sign him.
Leaving Elland Road is the smart move for the striker, considering he netted just twice in 21 appearances for Leeds last term.
With Marcelo Bielsa’s side potentially headed for the Premier League next season, Ekuban wouldn’t have stood a chance of impressing in England’s top flight.
