Both Leeds United and Leicester City are keen on AZ Alkmaar’s £17 million-rated left-back Milos Kerkez and his father believes a move to the Premier League would be ‘good for him’.

Such is AZ’s track record when it comes to selling and replacing star players, no one should bet against the Conference League semi-finalists bouncing back stronger if Kerkez does depart during the summer transfer window.

The former AC Milan teenager had big boots to fill when taking over from Owen Wijndal at AZ. Some would say that he’s not only been a successor for Wijndal but an upgrade too; his all-action attacking earning comparisons with the legendary Roberto Carlos.

It would reportedly take a bid in the region of £17 million to convince AZ to cash in. Kerkez’s father, Sebastijan, admits that Portuguese giants Benfica have already held talks.

He believes that the English Premier League suits the 19-year-old Hungary international down to the ground, however, talkSPORT indicating that AFC Bournemouth, Leicester City and Leeds United are among his many admirers.

Leeds United and Leicester City like AZ Alkmaar’s Milos Kerkez

“I am open to talk to anyone, but we are very happy here at Alkmaar. My son is doing well too,” Kerkez’s father tells M1.

“Now, we’re talking to everyone. (But) we are not rushing anything. His position is very sought after, so there are a few people interested in him; from England, Spain, Italy, Portugal and even Germany and France.

“Everyone cares about money, but we don’t. We live well here and have everything (we need). Money is not a reason to change clubs at the moment. The big money will come one day anyway.

“I would prefer England, and Milos would prefer Spain. I think he is a tough player and England would be good for him from that point of view. But he prefers Spain. We will see.”

Kerkez has five goals and eight assists from full-back this season. Leeds may now be a more likely destination than Leicester, however, after the Foxes spent big on bringing Victor Kristiansen to the King Power Stadium.

Though both clubs would have to stave off the threat of relegation if they are to stand a chance to meeting AZ’s £17 million price-tag.

“We are not talking about (signing) a contract with anyone yet,” Sebastijan Kerkez adds. “Benfica would be great for him. I talked to them, but I hear from 10 other teams as well.

“I will say it again; We are very happy here.”
