Leeds United had shown an interest in signing CSKA Moscow striker Adolfo Gaich – but he has now made a move to Spain with SD Huesca.
Tuttomercatoweb reported earlier this month that Leeds had put an offer on the table for Gaich, with Marcelo Bielsa keen.
Bielsa no doubt knows all about top Argentinian talents, and Gaich looked like a star of the future at San Lorenzo.
It was suggested that Gaich preferred heading back to Italy after scoring twice in 15 games on loan at Benevento last season.
After showing promise at San Lorenzo, the goals have dried up for Gaich. He found the net just once in 19 games for CSKA Moscow, but Bielsa seemingly saw potential in him.
Big, physical and still only 22, Gaich would have provided Bielsa with another option behind Patrick Bamford in the Leeds attack.
Instead, Gaich is on the move elsewhere – and it’s not to Italy as claimed.
Nope, it’s Spain for Gaich as he has now penned a one-year loan deal with Spanish side SD Huesca, who play in the second tier.
Maybe Leeds will continue to keep tabs on Gaich over in Spain, especially as another Leeds target – Kelechi Nwakali – plays in midfield for Huesca.
Gaich needs goals in this loan spell if he is to stay on Leeds’ wish list though, and fans maybe won’t be too fussed about missing out on him in this window.
