Leeds United are now rivalling interest shown by West Ham United and Newcastle United for the transfer of Marseille striker Bamba Dieng in the last month of the transfer window.

Jesse Marsch has now joined the list of head coaches interested in signing Marseille striker Bamba Dieng, with Leeds United rivalling West Ham and Newcastle to buy the 22-year-old. That’s according to 90min, who report the ‘new Sadio Mane’ could soon be on the move.

Dieng rejected potential transfers to the London Stadium and St James’ Park in January as he sought to stay in France. But the 11-cap Senegal star is now willing to consider his place at the Stade Velodrome, having hardly played in pre-season once Igor Tudor took charge.
Tudor replaced Jorge Sampaoli at the helm in July following the surprise departure of their Argentine tactician. Dieng had played 25 Ligue 1 games under Sampaoli last season and hit seven goals plus three assists. He also featured from the left-wing, as well as in the centre.
Dieng spent much of the off-season trying to force his way into Tudor’s plans, but he had no success. L’Equipe even reported earlier this week that tensions between the Croatian coach and some OM stars, including Dieng, even reached a point they were exiled from training.
Several Marseille players have now met president Pablo Longoria to discuss their situation at the club. Yet Les Phoceens are instead pushing to sell Dieng with Leeds the latest side to join Newcastle and West Ham in showing an interest in the transfer of the 5 ft 10 attacker.

Crystal Palace, Everton and Wolves are also keen on bringing Dieng to the Premier League this summer. But they may face competition from clubs in Germany and Spain for a player whom Sampaoli praised highly during his time in charge at the Stade Velodrome last term.
“He is an explosive player with great potential,” Sampaoli said, via quotes by Ligue1.com, after Dieng won the Uber Eats Young Player of the Month award in September last year.
A move for Dieng is likely to only require a €12m (£10m) investment, according to Media Foot Marseille. The forward has two years remaining on his contract in southern France. While Newcastle are noted to appreciate his technical skill, physical power and potential.
