According to iNews, Leeds United are keen on Ralph Hasenhuttl as a potential option as their next manager.

Hasenhuttl has been out of work since he was sacked by Southampton late last year, but he could have a rapid return to the Premier League with Leeds.

Of course, if Hasenhuttl does take the Leeds job he’ll be replacing a man he knows very well, Jesse Marsch.

Marsch actually worked alongside Hasenhuttl when he was the manager at RB Leipzig for a period, and he made quite the impression on the Austrian.

In fact, Hasenhuttl had great things to say about Marsch during his time at Southampton.

Hasenhuttl a fan of Marsch

The ex-Saints boss had good things to say about Marsch last year.

“He’s an outstanding character, he’s very close to the players. It was interesting to watch his development as a coach, I think the step he made was absolutely good. It’s the right way to go,” Hasenhuttl said.

Premium version

Appointing Ralph Hasenhuttl would be a risk from Leeds. After all, they’ve only just sacked one manager from the Red Bull stable, but Hasenhuttl is something of a premium version of Marsch.

The Austrian is much more defined in his style, and while it is a style that has failed Leeds this season, he’s tasted plenty of success elsewhere.

If Ralf Rangnick is the godfather of the Red Bull style of play, Hasenhuttl is the consigliere. He understands exactly how to work this system and he could tweak what Marsch had started at Leeds and make it a success.

This is an appointment that could go one way or the other.
