Just three years after joining Newcastle United, Miguel Almiron is reportedly set to leave the northeast club this summer.
According to TeamTalk, the Paraguay international is one of seven players who could be sold by the Magpies in the upcoming transfer window, with the likes of Sean Longstaff and Paul Dummett also likely to depart Newcastle with Almiron.
A previous club-record signing from Atlanta United for £20m according to BBC Sport, Almiron’s exit indicates that Newcastle are eager to improve the overall quality of the squad this summer. But what lies ahead for the 28-year-old playmaker?
We look at three clubs who could make a move for Almiron this summer, with the South American a player who could fit multiple top teams around Europe.
Leeds United

On the surface, Almiron looks like a perfect player for one Marcelo Bielsa, with the Argentine manager a figure who could squeeze every ounce of quality out of the 28-year-old as he has done to the likes of Patrick Bamford, Luke Ayling and Jack Harrison.
However, Jesse Marsch could prove to be an even better fit for Almiron. The pair are considered icons for their respective MLS clubs in the New York Red Bulls and Atlanta United, and the duo could make for a dream team at Elland Road.
With Almiron versatile enough to play in most attacking positions and Marsch a coach who relies on fast forwards able to get the ball up the pitch with pace, the Newcastle star could be a new poster boy for Leeds in this new era for the Yorkshire club.
Atalanta

A move to the continent seems the most likely for Almiron if reports are to be suggested, yet a club that could prove to be perfect for the winger is Serie A side Atalanta, who are fighting for another UEFA Champions League finish this campaign.
The Italian club have formed an incredible reputation for themselves in recent years of plucking talent from obscure places and developing them into hyper-stylised players and becoming world-beaters, something that Almiron could experience in Bergamo.
Indeed, age would not be a factor either. Whilst Atalanta have an outstanding academy, the club’s transfer plan aims to have players in the XI in the prime of their careers, something Almiron could be about to hit should he move from Newcastle this summer.
Fulham

Almiron’s talent and qualities make him a unique player for interested clubs, and for Fulham, the South American could be a solid addition in the summer should Marco Silva’s side clinch promotion back to the Premier League.
The Cottagers have been in scary goalscoring form this season, with Aleksander Mitrovic alone breaking the Championship scoring record in February, and with Almiron in the attack, Fulham could have a genuine shot of surviving in the Premier League.
Indeed, the west London side will have to be smart and change tact this summer if they are to avoid another season where they are immediately relegated back down to the Championship, and adding Almiron to the attack could be a wise move for Fulham.
