Amid the Samu Saiz debacle, Leeds United need the real Ezgjan Alioski back.

If anything can bring about the return of the real Ezgjan Alioski for Leeds United, it’s the news about Samu Saiz.

The Spaniard looks to have played his last game for Leeds and seems set to join Getafe in the January transfer.

Saiz was omitted from Leeds’ squad for Saturday’s 1-0 win over Bolton, with head coach Marcelo Bielsa confirming afterwards that he has been granted a leave of absence.

He is a brilliant player and one that the Whites will miss over the next few weeks until a replacement is signed, so Alioski must buck up his ideas and remind the Elland Road faithful why they think so much of him as a footballer.

In short, the Macedonia international has been dreadful for a number of months now. Alioski hasn’t scored since September and hasn’t set one up since October which, for an attacking player, is disappointing.

Saturday’s win at Bolton offered glimpses of a potential revival, the 26-year-old having his best game for quite some time, but he remains nowhere near his true level, the one that caused Leeds to spend £2 million [The Yorkshire Evening Post] on him during the summer of 2017.

As far as talent goes, Alioski has plenty of it and with Saiz out of the picture, it’s imperative that the former Lugano winger starts to find his very best form again.

Bielsa’s side are top of the Championship. They have a brilliant shot at reaching the Premier League, but their promotion bid will be a hell of a lot stronger if and when Alioski gets back to his best.
