Glasgow Rangers had hoped to bring the youngster to Ibrox, but they have reportedly now pulled out of the running.

The Daily Record reported back in February that Leeds are one of the Championship teams interested in signing Jake Hastie in the wake of the winger’s outstanding run of form in the Scottish Premiership.
It had appeared however, that the Whites were set for disappointment, with the Evening Times reporting that Rangers had agreed a pre-contract deal with the 20-year-old, who has scored five goals in 10 top flight games.
But it appears that Leeds now have a potential second chance, with the Evening Times adding that the Gers have pulled out of the race to sign Hastie after growing frustrated during talks.
The Light Blues’ concerns should perhaps leave Leeds wary, but Steven Gerrard’s side stepping aside should still prompt the Whites to step up their interest and make sure that he does not get another chance to head elsewhere this summer.

Hastie is threatening to become a special talent. He is scoring some superb goals for Motherwell and is only going to get significantly better as he gets more experience under his belt.
And with Leeds’ record in the last couple of years when it comes to bringing young players on and helping them realise their full potential, it could be argued that Elland Road could be the perfect place for Hastie to develop.
With his contract expiring this summer, it is a low-risk move for Leeds. And following the news that Rangers have reportedly pulled out of the running, the Whites should take the opportunity that they may not have expected to still have when it looked as though he was Ibrox-bound.
