Leeds United are only one big injury away from seeing their superb campaign go up in smoke.
Leeds United are currently flying high in the Championship, their recent good run of form taking them into the play-off places as we head into yet another international break.
Whites boss Garry Monk has built an exciting side that has what it takes to finally lead the club back to the top flight. However, with the January transfer window just around the corner the manager and the club’s owner Massimo Cellino have a big decision to make…and they have to get it right.

Leeds striker Chris Wood is on fire right now, scoring 11 goals in 19 appearances this season, yet it will only take an injury to the New Zealand striker to scupper all of the club’s good work.
Marcus Antonsson, Kemar Roofe and Souleymane Douakara are also on the club’s books but for all their attributes none have suggested they can take on the goal-scoring burden this season if required.
Roofe and Antonsson have been prolific on different stages, but doing it regularly in the Championship is a totally different prospect, and for that reason Leeds should sign a Wood-like player – either on loan or permanently – to ensure there are no regrets in the second half of the campaign.

A temporary move would be the sensible option if the right player is available, as Wood is not going to give up his place lightly and could go the entire campaign injury-free.
But as so many other clubs have shown before them, Leeds need to build on a fine start with a smart January that could be the difference between success and failure come May.
