The Leeds forward has produced some excellent performances since returning from injury.

Leeds United were certainly in need of a lift following a disappointing run of form and Caleb Ekuban’s return from injury has provided the team with a major boost.

Possessing pace and flair in abundance, Ekuban has justified manager Thomas Christiansen’s decision to throw him into the starting line-up with some excellent displays.

Having caught the eye in the 2-0 victory over Barnsley, the prospect was given another start in the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on Friday and seized his opportunity as he caused much difficulty for the opposing defenders.

A fractured metatarsal kept Ekuban out of action for 14 games but he has certainly made up for lost time and deserves to keep his place in the side.

The only concern about Ekuban, who joined for Chievo Verona in the summer, is his lack of goals – he has scored just once in six games for Leeds so far, with that strike coming in the first round of the EFL Cup against Port Vale.

However, the 23-year-old is certainly a player worth persisting with and, if he continues to perform as he has done of late and becomes a little more ruthless in front of goal then he could become a very important player for Leeds in their latest push for promotion.
