Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is attracting attention from elsewhere heading into the January transfer window.

Leeds are in a strong position regarding Kalvin Phillips’ contract. At the end of this season, the midfielder will still have another two years on the deal that he signed last year (via club’s official website).

Phillips is playing the best football of his career right now, and he has never been more important to his boyhood club. And understandably, rival sides are admiring his form.

The Sun on Sunday (09/12; page 57) reported recently that West Brom are keen on the 23-year-old, but are aware that they will need promotion and for Leeds to remain in the Championship to get a deal done.

Leeds fans are struggling to get their heads around the idea of Phillips being tempted by the Baggies. But while a move to The Hawthorns may perhaps not appeal to the academy graduate, there is no reason to believe that they will be the only team monitoring his form.

Phillips has risen to every challenge set by Marcelo Bielsa since the manager’s arrival. Few players have seen their stock rise as much as Phillips’ has, and with that, the Whites must expect further interest.

In fact, the Elland Road faithful should not be surprised if some Premier League sides are considering offering Phillips a more immediate path into the top flight.

So given his form and what it may mean for future transfer windows, Leeds must already look to tie the midfielder down to fresh terms that not only reflect his current importance, but also ensure that he will be tied down beyond 2021.
