The summer transfer window is over, and on reflection, there’s been one trend running through the Premier League this summer – signings from the Eredivisie.

Indeed, with the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Marcos Senesi arriving from the Netherlands in big-money moves this summer, it’s clear to see that English clubs have been sounding out the Dutch League, with the likes of Cody Gakpo and Jurrien Timber also strongly linked with Premier League moves.

However, the two most intriguing signings of the summer from the Eredivisie are a pair of wingers in the shape of Leeds United’s Luis Sinisterra and Manchester United’s Antony.

These two South Americans have both gotten off to brilliant starts in England, they both scored on their debuts and look like they’re well-suited to Premier League football.

As tricky South American wingers arriving from the Netherlands, there are a lot of similarities between these two players, but there’s one key difference that has to be noted, their pricetag.

Sinisterra arrived at Leeds for just £21m, while Antony cost four times as much at £85m, and when comparing their Eredivisie stats it’s fair to argue that Leeds have completely outdone Manchester United in the market with this deal.

Sinisterra outdid Antony in almost every attacking metric last season. More goals, more assists, more key passes, more dribbles per game and he also outdid the Brazilian on the defensive side when it comes to tackles and interceptions per game too.

Antony is, of course, younger and has more experience at the top-level in the Champions League, but given how these two performed domestically last season, it’s increasingly hard to justify the £64m gap in valuations here.

Leeds’ move for Sinisterra may ultimately prove to be much better value than United’s move for Antony.

Victor Orta looks to have pulled off a masterclass here.
