Leeds United are reportedly set to sign a Tottenham Hotspur player.

According to Clarin, the Championship leaders will sign Spurs centre-back Juan Foyth on a season-long loan for the 2020-21 campaign.

This is an £8 million defender and Leeds fans should be excited by the prospect of bringing him to Elland Road, especially after what one former Tottenham boss said about him.

Mauricio Pochettino, who signed Foyth for the North London club in 2017, was a big fan of the 22-year-old during his time in charge of the Lilywhites.

And in 2018, the Argentine described his compatriot – who has 10 caps for his country – as ‘quality’.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Pochettino said: “He is so clever and he has a lot of potential. He has quality and I don’t have doubts that he only needs time, and games to improve and show his real quality.”

The exciting thing here is not only would he get games at Leeds, but he’d also be working under a truly brilliant coach, if a move to West Yorkshire materialises.

Leeds have a certain Marcelo Bielsa in the dugout, a Marcelo Bielsa who Pochettino idolised and played under at Newell’s Old Boys.

The veteran Argentine is one of the best man-managers and coaches of individual talent in the business and maybe, just maybe, a spell under Bielsa would do wonders for Foyth.

Foyth and Pochettino went their separate ways before he realised his potential, with Spurs sacking the 48-year-old earlier this season, but maybe Bielsa can finish the job that his former player started.
