Leeds United midfielder Ronaldo Vieira has admitted to Leeds Live that pre-season training under new manager Marcelo Bielsa has not been easy.

Pre-season training at Leeds has already started, with Bielsa having been appointed as the Championship club’s head coach earlier this summer.

Vieira has admitted that it has not been easy for the players, but the 19-year-old has stated that he and his teammates knew that it was going to be hard.

“It’s not been easy but it’s something that we have to do as footballers,” Vieira told Leeds Live about pre-season training under Bielsa. ”We’re all aware of it, we all knew it was going to be tough.

“Everyone had their own programmes to do off-season so if you want to help yourself through the running you should have done that and I think most of the boys, if not all of them have done it.

“We know how important the season is going to be for all of us. Everyone’s trying to improve under the new manager, the new coaching staff and just see how it goes.”

Exciting times ahead

Bielsa is a brilliant and innovative manager, and the Argentine’s arrival at Elland Road has excited the Leeds fans.

The Whites have not featured in the Premier League since 2004 and have become also-rans in the Championship in recent years, but perhaps things are going to change soon.

The West Yorkshire outfit have made one major signing so far this summer, bringing in 23-year-old midfielder Lewis Baker on a season-long loan deal from Premier League side Chelsea.

Leeds will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship table next season.
