Marcelo Bielsa has suggested he did not know Sheffield United’s result until after Leeds United had won.

Marcelo Bielsa told Sky Sports’ live post-match coverage of Leeds’ win against Sheffield Wednesday (broadcast on 13/4 from 17:15) that he was not aware of Sheffield United’s result until after the Whites had won later in the day.
It is certainly advantage Leeds in the automatic-promotion race in the Championship. The Blades went into their game with Millwall one point behind, so Chris Wilder’s men would have been hoping to put some serious pressure on the Whites.
They did move above Leeds in the table, but only on goal difference after the Lions scored a stoppage-time equaliser at Bramall Lane. And Bielsa’s men would end the day three points clear of their rivals by beating the Owls 1-0 at Elland Road, with Jack Harrison scoring the winner.
It appeared that everyone inside the ground was aware of how significant the win was following Sheffield United’s draw, but Bielsa insisted that he decided to not find out the other score until after Leeds had won.

“We only focused on the game,” he told Sky Sports. “In fact, I did not know the result from the game. I asked now because our focus is only on our game.”
Unfortunately for the Leeds fans who found the experience an uncomfortable one, the Whites do not play at the same time as the Blades again before the final day.
Leeds face Wigan and Brentford in the hours after Sheffield United take on Nottingham Forest and Hull respectively over the Easter weekend, while their game against Aston Villa comes a day after the Blades take on Ipswich.
