Ampadu has signed a new contract at Chelsea, after playing alongside Leeds star Roberts at Wales.

Leeds United striker Tyler Roberts has applauded Chelsea midfielder Ethan Ampadu on Instagram after the latter was given a new deal at Stamford Bridge as he continues to shine in Chelsea’s youth and reserve sides.
Ampadu, 18, has already made seven appearances for Chelsea’s first team despite his young age, and remains on the fringes of the squad under new boss Maurizio Sarri.
The versatile midfielder, who can also play at centre-back, has clocked up four Wales caps and played alongside Roberts in the most recent international break – beating Ireland 4-1 and a 2-0 loss to Denmark.
Teenage star Ampadu signed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge and in-form Leeds star Roberts reacted on Instagram by congratulating his Wales teammate, posting “the only way is up”.

Roberts joined Leeds in January for £2.5million from West Brom, but he failed to make a single appearance throughout the second half of the 2017-18 campaign. But he has played four times, scoring a brace against Preston on Tuesday.
Leeds have three players on loan from Chelsea this summer in Lewis Baker, Jamal Blackman and Izzy Brown, but they are yet to make an impact at Elland Road as Marcelo Bielsa’s side sit at the top of the Championship table.
