The Spaniard broke his duck for Leeds United this past weekend.

Pablo Hernandez has admitted to Leeds United’s official website that he struggled early on in his spell with the Whites.

Hernandez joined Leeds on a six-month loan in the summer from Qatar-based outfit Al Arabi.

The Spanish playmaker was arguably the most high-profile of Garry Monk’s 12 signings, given his previous spells with Swansea City – where he worked with Monk – and later Valencia in Spain.

He netted his first goal for the Championship club in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Cardiff City – a fine one it was, too – for what was his second successive start.

Indeed, Hernandez certainly seems to be up and running with Leeds, but the 31-year-old concedes that certain factors made a rip-roaring start to life in Yorkshire unlikely.

“I’ve felt good on the pitch in the last two games,” he said to Leeds’ official website. “My first games here were difficult because I didn’t play any games in pre-season and hadn’t trained a lot in Qatar.

“But I think these last two games have been very important for me. I played 90 minutes against Blackburn last week and played most of the game on Saturday, too. That is good for me. “I’m very happy that I was able to help the team win the game on Saturday.”

Leeds host Blackburn Rovers again tomorrow, having beaten them 2-1 six days ago, but this time it comes in the League Cup.

With Hernandez establishing himself as a prominent figure in United’s two-match winning streak, he is unlikely to start as Monk has one eye on Saturday’s visit of Ipswich Town.
