The Leeds United scout Francisco ‘Paco’ Peral spent part of his Tuesday evening scouting Shakhtar Donetsk versus Borussia Monchengladbach.
Peral was brought to Leeds by the Whites’ director of football Victor Orta in 2017.
The pair had previously worked together at Middlesbrough and Elche.
And even though the transfer window may have closed, it seems that the work does not stop for Orta’s recruitment team, with Peral posting the following tweet earlier.
It remains to be seen which players, if any, were the focus of Peral’s attention.
But it is common knowledge that Leeds tried and failed to strengthen their central midfield options in the summer transfer window, with their shortage of bodies exacerbated by Kalvin Phillips’ ongoing absence.
Shakhtar were beaten 6-0 by the Bundesliga side, whose players – which include Matthias Ginter, Marcus Thuram and Alassane Plea, are far more likely to have impressed the watching Leeds scout.

As well as Shakhtar versus Gladbach, latter club’s game against Real Madrid and Porto versus Olympiacos last week can also be seen in Peral’s open tabs.
