The Leeds United new boy wants to emulate a certain Tony Yeboah during his time at Elland Road.

Caleb Ekuban has revealed to LUTV that he dreams about emulating Tony Yeboah’s goalscoring feats for Leeds United.

The 23-year-old joined Leeds on a four-year deal from Chievo this week.

The Italy-born forward is of Ghanaian descent in what is another thing he has in common with the legendary Whites striker.

Yeboah netted 24 league goals in 47 games during his two-year spell in Yorkshire – including two stunners against Wimbledon and Liverpool respectively – and Ekuban ‘hopes and dreams’ about being as well-thought of as his compatriot.

He told LUTV: “I remember them playing against AC Milan in the Champions League. I also remember they had a great Ghanaian striker named Yeboah.

“I hope and I dream about that [scoring like Yeboah for Leeds].”

Ekuban might have aspirations of scoring goals like the United hero, but opportunities could be hard to come by if head coach Thomas Christiansen plans on playing one striker.

Chris Wood netted 30 goals last season – including 27 in the league – and dislodging him from that number-nine role is a big ask for the young forward.
