Pontus Jansson took to social media after sealing his move away from Leeds United this summer.

Luke Ayling has suggested that Pontus Jansson will be missed after responding to the former Leeds defender’s message on Twitter following his move to Brentford, which was confirmed on Monday.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that the Swede has left the Whites for an initial £5.5 million plus add-ons. It was a deal that had been expected for a couple of days before the announcement, but the confirmation still managed to shock the large majority of the Elland Road faithful.

Jansson has been an incredibly popular figure during his time with Leeds, and went into this summer off the back of his best season with the Championship side to date.

But it has now been confirmed that he will be calling Griffin Park home next season. And following the news, the defender took to social media to send messages to both Brentford and Leeds supporters as he reflected on his time in Yorkshire and looked forward to his stint with the Bees.

And in response, Ayling wished his now former teammate well with an emotional message…

It would not be surprising if Jansson’s departure did hit Ayling hard. The pair arrived at Leeds within eight days of each other during the 2016 summer window, so the right-back has played almost all of his football at Leeds with the 28-year-old as his teammate, and often as the man stood immediately alongside him in the backline.
