Leeds United star Luke Ayling is on the sidelines at the moment.

According to BBC Sport, Ayling, who can operate as a defender or as a defensive midfielder, is out for the rest of the season after undergoing ankle injury.
The 26-year-old suffered the injury during Leeds’s Championship game against Nottingham Forest on New Year’s Day.

The former Arsenal prospect, though, is hopeful that he will be able to make a return to the first team before the end of the season.
Ayling told Leeds’s official website: “If the opportunity comes that I could play a game this year, then I would jump at the chance. But I have got to make sure my ankle is fine for a long hard season next season.”

Not much consolation
Ayling is a very good player who Leeds Director of Football Victor Orta suggested in October 2017 on the club’s official website is good enough to play in the Premier League.
However, with the West Yorkshire outfit pretty much out of the running for the Championship playoffs this season, even if the 26-year-old plays a game or two in the final weeks of the campaign, it is not going make much of a difference.
