Tyler Denton is currently on loan from Leeds United at Port Vale.
When Michael Brown was dismissed as Port Vale manager recently, it appeared that there may be some question marks surrounding whether Tyler Denton’s loan move from Leeds was about to turn sour.
Denton was one of Brown’s signings, so of course, it was unclear whether the new manager would see what the 40-year-old had seen in the Whites left-back.
But, while Vale’s new appointment has only just been announced and thus, it remains to be seen whether Denton does feature in the new man’s plans, the signs should perhaps be positive for the 22-year-old.
The League Two strugglers have announced that former player Neil Aspin is the man who will succeed Brown at Vale Park. And while he made the most appearances during his playing career for Port Vale, he also has a strong affinity with Leeds.
Aspin began his career at Elland Road having supported the club as a child and made his debut in 1982 at the age of 16 before going on to make over 200 league appearances before leaving in 1989.
The fact that Aspin has strong personal connections with Leeds – which, admittedly, Brown also had to an extent – just hints that Denton is in safe hands as he looks to make an impact that will put him back on the radar at his parent club.
The fact that the 52-year-old played regularly at full-back during his playing days with the Whites should also help Denton as he looks to realise his potential.
And as he knows what it takes to break through at Elland Road, there are perhaps few people who would be better at helping Denton make the most of his time away from the club.
