Klich is expected to return to Leeds ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.
Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has waved goodbye to loan side FC Utrecht on Instagram, confirming that he will not be joining the Dutch Eredivisie side on a permanent basis.
The 27-year-old was loaned to Utrecht in the January transfer window after failing to break into the first-team set-up at Leeds following his £1.5million summer move from FC Twente.
Klich managed just 10 appearances for the Whites, five of which came in cup competitions, as he struggled to oust Kalvin Phillips, Ronaldo Vieira and Eunan O’Kane. The signing of Adam Forshaw saw Klich leave on loan.
But since then, the 10-time Poland star has shone in the red of Utrecht, helping the club finish in a lofty fifth place in the Eredivisie table while former side Twente were relegated. He bid farewell on Instagram, meaning he will return to Leeds.
Klich opened up on his future earlier this month in an interview with Dutch outlet AD, stating Leeds have informed the midfielder that they want him to return to Elland Road this summer.
The midfielder is also said to be keen, stating he has “unfinished business” at Leeds. But with plenty of central midfield options available to Paul Heckingbottom, it remains to be seen how Klich will get a game.
