Leeds-linked Ivan Sunjic reportedly set to join Pep Clotet's Birmingham for £6.2m

Leeds United were said to have launched a bid for the Birmingham City-bound midfielder.

The Leeds United-linked midfielder Ivan Sunjic is flying in to sign for Pep Clotet’s Birmingham City, according to reports in his native Croatia.

The Daily Mail claimed earlier this month that Leeds had launched a bid to sign Sunjic from Dinamo Zagreb, amid concerns that Kalvin Phillips could join Aston Villa.

But the newspaper warned that Birmingham had also made an approach, understood to be worth around £3.5 million.

And the Blues – whose new boss, Clotet, spent a season as Garry Monk’s assistant at Leeds – have now had an offer of €7m (around £6.2m) accepted, according to Vecernji.hr.

The website adds that Dinamo could earn another €1m (around £900,000) in bonuses, and will be due 30 per cent of Sunjic’s next sale.

Positively for Leeds, Phillips’ move to Aston Villa is looking increasingly unlikely, with the Villans set to sign central midfielders Marvelous Nakamba and Douglas Luiz, according to HLN and the Daily Telegraph, respectively.

But other clubs have been linked with the Whites academy product.
