Defender Liam Cooper has looked back on a pivotal moment from Leeds United’s match against Birmingham City.
Leeds United defender Liam Cooper has taken to Twitter following his side’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham City on Saturday.
Cooper conceded a penalty when he was adjudged to have fouled Clayton Donaldson in the box just eight minutes into the match.
Paul Caddis converted the spot-kick and the score-line remained 1-0 until the dying moments, when Luke Murphy equalised for Neil Redfearn’s side and ensured they took a share of the spoils.
After the match, centre-back Cooper sent a tweet questioning the award of the penalty while also praising the Leeds fans who continue to stick by his club.
“Never a penalty,” Cooper wrote. “And thought we should have had one at the other end. Fan were amazing never stopped on to Tuesday.”
Leeds’ next match is another home game, this time against Bournemouth – a side they defeated 3-1 in the reverse fixture during Redfearn’s caretaker stint in charge.
Although they gained a point this weekend, it could have been a lot more for Leeds if they had taken their chances, and they must now ensure they get back to winning ways next week to start climbing back up the Championship table.
