Thomas Christiansen has seen his Leeds side go five games without a win.

Former Leeds player Eddie Gray waves to the fans during The Emirates FA Cup Third Round match between Newport County and Leeds United at Rodney Parade on January 7, 2018 in Newport, Wales.

Leeds United legend Eddie Gray has waved away pressure on manager Thomas Christiansen, telling LUTV that every manager feels the heat when they fail to pick up wins.

The Whites have gone five outings without a win as bitter rivals Millwall earned a 4-3 win at Elland Road, in a rollercoaster of a match that saw Leeds come from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 despite going down to 10 men.

Liam Cooper was sent off for a straight red card in the first half, before Millwall scored two late goals to earn a 4-3 win. It leaves Leeds in tenth place in the Championship table, with pressure growing on Christiansen.

Despite the result succumbing Leeds to a fifth successive match without a win, Gray was quick to dispel suggestions that Christiansen should be replaced – but did vent his disappointment at the fact Leeds lost at home.

“Every manager feels pressure when you don’t win games,” Gray said. “That goes with the job. If you don’t win games, you know you’re going to be under pressure. But I think Thomas has coped with things well so far.

“The disappointing thing from my point of view is that it was a home game against Millwall, we can’t beat around the bush, everyone expected us to win the game. It looked as though we were going to get something, but it never materialised.”

Leeds can put the run of form right as they travel to east Yorkshire to face Hull City at the KCOM Stadium on the 30th, with Nigel Adkins’ side flirting with relegation.

The Tigers have won just once in 15 Championship outings and could be set for a second relegation in two seasons after their demotion from the Premier League last term. Leeds will be looking to compound their misery on Tuesday night next week.
