The Leeds United youngster will be hoping for some regular game time following his switch.
Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell has moved to York City, initially on a 28-day loan deal, and the club’s manager Martin Gray has been speaking to their official website about the youngster’s potential.
The 20-year-old is rated highly at Elland Road and he is expected to become a first-team regular in time. But the only way for him to fulfil his potential is to play senior football in the interim and he is now set to get that chance with York.
A failed loan move to Oldham in the summer will have rankled with Peacock-Farrell. However he now has the chance to put that disappointment behind him, and Gray for one is excited by his potential.
“He’s been very highly recommended,” Gray told yorkcityfootballclub.co.uk. “He’s big, 6ft 4ins, and very athletic.
“He has got a massive future ahead of him but he needs some real senior football now and, hopefully, we can give him that opportunity.”
Peacock-Farrell made his Leeds debut against Queens Park Rangers back in May 2016 but he has not got another opportunity since then and, with Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan ahead of him in the pecking order, a loan move is the best option for all concerned.
While the initial loan is only for a month, it will be hoped that the Leeds youngster impresses in the upcoming fixtures and ensures an extension through to the end of the year.
There is little chance of a breakthrough at Elland Road in that time so a prolonged temporary switch will surely be welcome if all parties can come to an agreement in due course.
For now the Leeds academy product will be hoping to get a start when York take on Leamington this weekend in the Vanarama National League North.
