Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips has shared that he would like the legendary actor, Denzel Washington, to play him in a biopic of his life, as he told England’s official channel.
The Yorkshire-born player added that the 66-year-old Washington is ‘one of my favourite actors’.
During the decades Denzel Washington has been on everybody’s screens, he has produced some quite outstanding and iconic performances.
There aren’t many memorable than his Oscar-winning role in the 2001 Gangster blockbuster, Training Day.
Added with that, it would be some viewing watching Denzel Washington go from a vigilante in the Equaliser to a hard-tackling midfielder in England’s top-flight.
Whilst in conversation with Josh Denzel, the former Love Island star joked with Phillips that the American actor would probably be a little too old to run around the pitch now.
But this is what the ‘Yorkshire Pirlo’ had to say when asked who he would like to play him in a biopic of his life.
“Denzel Washington,” said Phillips. “He is one of my favourite actors.”
Josh Denzel then responded: “I can’t quite imagine Denzel Washington running around the pitch.”
Phillips then added: “No, a young Denzel.”
Well, Phillips will be hoping there are plenty more chapters to his footballing story because it has been one drama-filled journey so far.
Being in the colours of Leeds plays a part in that and helping his boyhood club get back to the promised land after nearly 20 years in the wilderness was an emotional rollercoaster for all involved.
From that fresh-faced teenager at Thorp Arch to becoming an experienced pro and putting on the Three Lions shirt at St George’s Park.
It’s been difficult for Phillips, but memorable, thus far, and he will be praying it’s not all spoiled by relegation back to the Championship this season.
