Marcelo Bielsa’s lack of English isn’t a huge issue in the Leeds United dressing room, but it can be ‘quite difficult’ at times.

Kalvin Phillips has admitted that Marcelo Bielsa’s lack of English can be ‘quite difficult’ in Leeds United’s dressing room at times.
Bielsa is a phenomenally-popular figure in West Yorkshire and has been since taking the reins at United in the summer of 2018.
The Argentine took Leeds ever so close to automatic promotion last season, but a late collapse saw them consigned to the playoffs where Derby County spoiled their Premier League dream.
Even more impressive is the fact that the 64-year-old is not a fluent English speaker, with the former Lazio and Athletic Bilbao coach always flanked by a translator in pre and post-match press conferences.
And although Phillips admits that it can be tricky in terms of communication sometimes, the 24-year-old midfielder stressed that Bielsa could still get his point across.
Asked by Jim White on his talkSPORT show this morning [24/09/2019], Phillips said: “He speaks Spanish, sometimes he speaks English, we’ve got an interpreter there. It’s quite difficult sometimes but he gets his point across.”
Leeds’ form under Bielsa indicates that he does indeed get his point across.
The Whites remain top of the Championship despite dropping a big two points against Derby last weekend.
This weekend, Bielsa’s side visit Charlton.
