Leeds United want James McAtee but the Manchester City talent is in talks to sign for Sheffield United instead.
The Whites have already done two deals with Manchester City this summer.
Kalvin Phillips left Leeds for a big move to the Etihad Stadium earlier in the transfer window, making an emotional move away from Elland Road.
On the same day, Leeds brought in City talent Darko Gyabi as they hope to develop him into their next top midfielder.
Leeds have also been eyeing one more City prospect – but they may now be missing out on a potential deal.
Leeds United want James McAtee, now Sheffield United in talks
The Daily Mail report that Leeds have been interested in taking City teenager McAtee on loan for the season.
Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest are also understood to be keen, but McAtee now looks to be heading for the Championship instead.
That report notes that McAtee is in talks with Sheffield United over a loan move to Bramall Lane.
Sheffield United allegedly made a loan offer for McAtee on Monday and talks are now underway with the player learning about Paul Heckingbottom’s approach.

This would be a massive coup for the Blades, who want McAtee to replace Morgan Gibbs-White after his exploits on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers last season.
McAtee, 19, made his Premier League debut last season and featured in six first-team games under Pep Guardiola.
Gary Neville even remarked that McAtee looks like a clone of David Silva when he’s on the ball.
McAtee has smashed a ridiculous 27 goals and 19 assists in 52 Under-23 outings for City and is considered to be a huge talent.
Leeds surely can’t promise as much playing time as Sheffield United can right now, but losing out on the City wonderkid to their former boss Heckingbottom may sting a little.
There is still work to be done for Sheffield United yet, but they appear to be closing in on a very impressive deal.
