Playing under Mauricio Pochettino would’ve been a huge factor in Jack Clarke’s decision to swap Leeds United for Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

After all, the Spurs boss has proven himself as one of the game’s best coaches when it comes to nurturing and developing young talent.

Just ask Dele Alli or Harry Kane, both of whom have become massive players since Pochettino took the reins at Tottenham and surely that would’ve enticed the Leeds product, who joined the Lilywhites for £8 million [The Sun].

Clarke was loaned back to the Championship club for the 2019-20 campaign, but will Pochettino even be around when he returns to North London?

On Saturday, Tottenham’s season went from bad to worse by losing 3-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion, days after Bayern Munich demolished them 7-2 in their own backyard.

If Pochettino – whose side are 13 points behind top-of-the-table Liverpool – was feeling the pressure after that night, he must be fearing for his future now and it has to be worrying for Clarke.

He didn’t so much sign for Tottenham as he signed for the Argentine manager and if he isn’t at the club by the time he returns then that poses a lot more worrying questions.

Clarke, who only started four Championship games prior to getting his move, is still so raw, evident by the fact that he has barely featured since returning to Leeds, and what if the North Londoners sack Pochettino and replace him with someone renowned for not bringing youth players through, someone like Jose Mourinho?

As of right now, the 18-year-old is nowhere near good enough for the Premier League, let alone the team that reached the Champions League final last season.

It’s already been a dreadful season for Clarke, who hasn’t played a single minute of Championship football since returning to Elland Road, but it’ll get so much worse for him if Pochettino leaves his parent club.
