The Whites missed out on automatic promotion to the Premier League after a poor end to the season, and then squandered their playoff chance.
Defeat to Derby County in the semi-finals means Leeds are facing up to another season in the Championship, and that brought questions about Bielsa’s future.
Some thought that the Argentinian would move on after missing out on the Premier League, but Leeds confirmed on Tuesday that they’ve activated a clause in Bielsa’s deal to extend his contract by another year.
That’s a major signal of intent by Leeds, but they’ll now need to back Bielsa with new signings this summer, and keep most of their key players at Elland Road.
Leeds fans are excited right now though, believing that another season under Bielsa will see them back to the Premier League, and fan favourite Lucas Radebe seems to agree.
Radebe has taken to Twitter to admit that he’s glad to hear Bielsa is staying, and believes the title and promotion is ‘surely’ heading to Elland Road this time next year, backing Bielsa to finally get the Whites back to the top flight.
