Leeds United should look again at Jordon Mutch

Back in August, Leeds United were linked with a move for Crystal Palace midfielder Jordon Mutch.

The Sun reported Leeds had opened talks with Palace over a potential £2 million switch, which did not come off.

Unfortunately for Mutch, he will be wishing it did.

Mutch was overlooked by Palace boss Frank de Boer, and has been snubbed too by Roy Hodgson.

He has not played a single minute of Premier League football this season, and will be desperate for a move.

The problem is, it is doubtful whether Leeds would renew their interest unless they specifically want a midfielder with proven experience in English football.

He could be an effective replacement for Polish midfielder Mateusz Klich, who has failed to win over manager Thomas Christiansen and earn a place in the team, starting just one league game.

Mutch, 26, played for Birmingham, Cardiff and QPR, before earning a £4.75m move to Crystal Palace.

His price tag has depreciated after a lack of first team football, and £2 million could be a snip.

Mutch spent the second half of last season on loan at Jaap Stam’s Reading, although it is unclear if the Royals want to bring him back this time around.

Leeds’ summer interest was a positive sign for the midfielder that he could be wanted this January, but he needs a move far more than the Whites need him.
