Leeds United are set to sign Mateusz Bogusz.

Mateusz Bogusz of Poland takes a shot on goal during UEFA Under-17 Championship Elite Round Group 3 match between Poland and Republic of Ireland on March 27, 2018 in Legnica, Poland.

Leeds United are close to striking a deal for Polish winger Mateusz Bogusz.

The youngster’s club Ruch Chorzow confirmed that the Whites have have submitted an offer.

It appears Leeds have stolen a march on Serie A giants Napoli for his signature too.

Sport Poland reported at the end of last month how Napoli wanted to take Bogusz on trial.

Chorzow refused the request because the timing of the proposed trial would have affected their league season.

The report details how Tottenham were also keen on the player, who is represented by the same sports agency which has Gareth Bale on their books.

Mateusz Bogusz of Poland U19 competes with Robbie Deas of Scotland U19 during international friendly match between Poland U19 and Scotland U19 on September 6, 2018 in Opole, Poland.

Bogusz is said to idolise Cristiano Ronaldo, with the report noting: “Several impressive CR7 style goals have already been scored by Bogusz.”

At just 17, Bogusz is already a regular for Chorzow, scoring five goals in 20 games in all competitions this season.

His experience playing regular football should set him up for success at Leeds too. If he starts with the under-23s, the hope is that he will quickly step up to challenge for first team places.
