Leeds United have now posted a strange tweet about Sam Allardyce shortly after announcing his arrival at Elland Road.
Andrea Radrizzani and Angus Kinnear have turned to the 68-year-old as they aim to keep Leeds in the Premier League, with only goal difference keeping the Whites out of the relegation zone as four games remain.
After announcing Allardyce would be replacing Javi Gracia, Leeds posted a tweet which doesn’t really deliver the impact they hoped it would.
What’s the story?
Well, Leeds uploaded a graphic showing Allardyce‘s record in the Premier League.
As the image shows, the Dudley-born tactician has managed 537 Premier League games throughout his career across 17 top-flight campaigns, winning 178 of them.
That roughly works out at a win rate of one victory every three games for Allardyce, which – if he ends up taking that same average to Leeds – will not help him at Elland Road.
One more win is unlikely to be enough to keep Leeds in the Premier League – it would see the Whites finish on 33 points, a tally Leicester, Everton, Nottingham Forest and even Southampton could reach.
Therefore, it is strange to see Leeds post Allardyce’s record as if it’s a positive in this scenario.
Sam Allardyce should be respected – but not celebrated – by Leeds
In truth, it was a surprise to see Leeds post the graphic anyway, as if they were almost celebrating his arrival.
With all due respect to Allardyce, nobody is hiring him in 2023 unless they find themselves in a real mess.

That is where Leeds are at now. To go from Marcelo Bielsa to Allardyce in just over 12 months is nothing short of ridiculous, and shows that those in the boardroom at Elland Road are not getting much right.
Allardyce deserves respect for taking the reins and having enough belief in his ability to think he can save Leeds from relegation.
Only time will tell if the old England boss can manage it, but if anyone can, it’s him.
