Grujic is allowed to leave Liverpool ahead of the January window.
Liverpool attacking midfielder Marko Grujic is reportedly allowed to leave Anfield for just £4.5million in the January transfer window, and he would be the perfect addition at Elland Road in Leeds United’s promotion hunt.
The Sun claim that Liverpool are willing to finally offload the 22-year-old, as he has failed to break into Jurgen Klopp’s senior side since joining the club back in January 2016.
Indeed, Grujic has since been loaned back to former side Red Star Belgrade, Cardiff City and now Hertha Berlin, where he is currently contracted until the end of the season.
A Serbia international, Grujic managed just 14 appearances in total for Liverpool but in those matches he certainly boasted the technique and ball-playing qualities that would work wonders under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa.
Leeds have thrived under Bielsa’s 4-1-4-1 system, that sees the two central players in the second four look to attack and get beyond the striker. Mateusz Klich, Adam Forshaw and Samu Saiz have all impressed.
But Chelsea loanee Lewis Baker has struggled in the role, starting just one Championship match since he joined. The former England Under-21 captain was even hooked at half-time during that start.
Bringing Grujic to Elland Road for the bargain figure of just £4.5million would give Leeds an excellent option in that attacking midfield role – one that would surely prove more successful than Baker.
His ability to dictate the tempo of a match, score goals from deep and split defences open with the flash of his right foot is something that Bielsa simply cannot ignore, if he is able to lure the midfielder to Yorkshire.
Adding Grujic would give Leeds all the ammunition required to push on and inch closer to their first return to the Premier League since 2004.
