Brian Laudrup has been singing the praises of Rangers winger Ryan Kent, amid speculation that Leeds United are keen on the player.
Kent, a £7 million signing by the Gers in 2019, has been a revelation in Glasgow and helped Steven Gerrard’s side to a Scottish Premiership title this past season.
According to The Scottish Sun in April, Leeds are weighing up a £15 million bid for the 24-year-old, with Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa said to be very interested in bringing him to Elland Road.
The former Liverpool attacker scored 13 goals and set up another 15 in all competitions for Rangers last term.
This is a brilliant player but Ibrox legend Laudrup claims that he can get even better.
Laudrup said to The Essential Scottish Football Podcast: “Leeds have been after him for at least a year or two now and he’s the kind of player you pay to watch. He’s the kind of players who can turn a dull game into a spectacular one.
“He opens up defences and you need players like that, not only in Scotland but in Europe as well. He’s still got potential, he’s not there yet, I think in a year or two he’ll be even better.”
The Bielsa factor
Since joining Leeds three years ago, Bielsa has improved quite a few players.
There’s no doubt that the Argentine knows the game inside out and yes, Laudrup is right in saying that Kent is still nowhere near the peak of his powers.
And working under somebody like the Leeds boss might be absolutely key to taking him to the next level, providing the West Yorkshire club are sincerely keen.
