Kemar Roofe has made a bright start to the season with Leeds United, scoring three Championship goals already.
Roofe has scored three times for Thomas Christiansen’s men this term, leaving him having already equalled his tally from the entirety of last season – though he needs six more assists to match his return from last year in that area.
And ahead of Leeds’ game with Reading at Elland Road this weekend, Roofe suggested that he is pleased with his form so far this season, but insisted that there is more to come from him.
Unfortunately for Roofe, there appears to still be a debate regarding what his best position in the side actually is, with Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Samuel Saiz holding down the striker and attacking midfield roles that he would surely like more chances in. But he suggested that holding down a regular place in the team is his goal at the moment.
“Yeah definitely,” he added, when asked whether playing regularly is his current aim.
“But because we’ve got such a good squad, you can have a good game and get left out the following game just because of rotation.”
Having players of Roofe’s versatility will certainly prove valuable as the season goes on and the Whites squad gets stretched.
The former Oxford United man is capable of playing anywhere in the front four, and has arguably been terrific when he has been used in that central attacking midfield role since he arrived for £3 million last year.
So while he seems happy at the moment featuring wherever he is needed, he will be hoping that if he gets more chances in one of his favoured positions in the near future, he can prove to Christiansen that his bright start this term is just a small indication of what he could be capable of.
