Pierre-Michel Lasogga struggled at Leeds during his season-long loan.
Leeds United striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga has seemingly waved “goodbye” to fans on his Instagram story, as he posed for a photo alongside his family from Leeds Bradford Airport.
Joining the club on loan from Bundesliga side Hamburg last summer, 26-year-old Lasogga was viewed as Chris Wood’s replacement after last season’s top scorer had joined Burnley for £15million.
However, he has managed just 10 goals in 33 league and cup appearances, with two of those coming on his league debut against Burton Albion back in September.
The Yorkshire Evening Post, though, recently claimed that Lasogga would not be signed permanently this summer as Leeds had no plans to land him permanently. He posted on his Instagram what could be a farewell.
The location on the post was at Leeds Bradford Airport, which could mean the powerful striker – who the Evening Post claims was earning £15,000 at Leeds – is on his way back to Germany and Hamburg.
Lasogga was one of a number of first-team stars to miss out on the trip to Myanmar, with the likes of Pawel Cibicki, Kemar Roofe, Hadi Sacko, Liam Cooper and Felix Wiedwald remaining behind.
It is likely to be an interesting summer for Lasogga, with Hamburg fighting against relegation. His £50,000-a-week wages are too expensive for the Germans in the top tier, let alone the second division.
