Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips wrote on his Instagram story that he is ‘so happy’ that Ben White has earned an England call.

Gareth Southgate has named his 33-man provisional squad for the forthcoming Euros, with one-time Leeds star, and now Brighton defender, White, getting the nod.

Phillips has also been called up by Southgate, but that was expected, with Patrick Bamford missing out altogether despite Harry Kane being the only Englishman scoring more goals than him this season.

Of course, Southgate has to also trim down the squad to 26 during these coming weeks, and White will be hoping his name continues to stay in the pot.

There’s no doubt that the ball-playing defender deserves his call after helping Leeds earn promotion than producing a strong performance in his first season in England’s top-flight in Brighton colours.

White has the ability to play in a back three, in the middle of the park and can carry the ball out if needed.

Nonetheless, this is what Phillips wrote on his Instagram story to White after his call-up: ‘So happy for this guy right now’, the midfielder wrote.

Tyler Roberts, who will be going to the Euros with Wales, also shared his reaction by stating: ‘More than deserved ballaa.’
