Javier Mascherano hailed Leeds United on Twitter as they secured a 5-0 win over Stoke City to retain their place at the top of the Championship.
The former Argentina international hailed their second-half performance and stated that it shows why Leeds are sitting top of the tree. He also praised Pablo Hernandez for his goal.
Here is Maschernao’s Twitter message and the translation which the Leeds faithful will love:
“Leeds’ first goal gave reassurance to a team that, until then, played with the weight of the results of the day,” Mascherano wrote on Twitter. “The second half is being the recognizable team that led him to be the leader of the championship.
“Great goal by Pablo Hernandez. Very important victory to send a message to your pursuers!!!”
Marcelo Bielsa is a world-famous coach and it isn’t a surprise that his team is being recognised by all.
Mascherano wasn’t the only one praising Leeds because their former player, Ian Harte, stated that they have been ‘by far the best team this season’.
There was a lot of pressure on Leeds going into this game because of what is at stake and the results that occurred around them recently.
Whilst the Leeds fans would have been happy with just an ordinary point, it’s the manner in which they won today which will delight them.
This is a real statement of intent that Leeds aren’t just heading back to the Premier League, but they are heading back in style.
