Pierre-Michel Lasogga was dropped for Leeds’ clash against Reading.

Paul Heckingbottom Leeds manager gestures during the Sky Bet Championship match between Derby County and Leeds United at iPro Stadium on February 21, 2018 in Derby, England.

Paul Heckingbottom made the surprise decision to drop Leeds United striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga against Reading on Saturday afternoon at the Madjeski Stadium – but fans want the German recalled.

Lasogga, 26, had been arguably one of Leeds’ best performers since the arrival of manager Heckingbottom, scoring three goals in the the former Barnsley manager’s opening three games.

But he was dropped to the bench as Caleb Ekuban was preferred against Reading, in a match that saw Leeds come from behind to take the lead – only for Eunan O’Kane’s own goal seeing Leeds forced to make do with a 2-2 draw.

With a huge clash against bitter rivals Sheffield Wednesday next on the agenda for under-fire Heckingbottom, he has a big decision to make up front. He must choose between the two forwards, or indeed partner the duo.

But Leeds fans have looked to help the 40-year-old boss make that decision by urging the Barnsley-born manager to start Lasogga over Italian ace Ekuban, with the latter yet to find the back of the net in the Championship.

One fan stated he wants Lasogga because he likes “strikers who score goals, strangely”.
