Leeds fans have taken to Twitter in an attempt to urge manager Thomas Christiansen to hand summer signing Jay-Roy Grot just his second start for his new club against Leicester.

The Whites face 2015-16 Premier League champions Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup, after beating Burnley on penalties in the previous round.

Leeds signed 19-year-old Grot for a fee of £1.5million this summer, according to the Express, and he has since made five Championship appearances but all of those have come from the bench.

The three-time Netherlands Under-20 international has been forced to play second fiddle under Christiansen since his move to Elland Road, with fellow new signing Pierre-Michel Lasogga installed as first-choice.

However, Lasogga may be given a rest after scoring against Bristol City in Saturday’s 3-0 win, and that could see former NEC Nijmegen attacker Grot appear from the off.

Grot is yet to find the back of the net for Leeds, but has shown plenty of promise in the final third and could be the key to firing the Yorkshire giants into the quarter finals of the Carabao Cup.

Leeds fans have called on Christiansen on Twitter to hand the young striker his second start in Leeds colours, with one fan stating that the powerful forward needs “to get more game time”.
