The Elland Road youngsters had a night to forget in their Premier League Cup game on Friday night.

A number of Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to bemoan the Whites Under-23s side playing out a dour 0-0 draw with Birmingham City U23s in Friday night’s Premier League Cup opener at the Global Stadium.
Carlos Corberan’s charges were far from their best as they barely tested the opposition goalkeeper, even though the Blues were a man down for more than half the game due to Jonathan Grounds’s sending off.
In the 38th minute, Jonathan Grounds was shown a straight red card as he fouled Mateusz Bogusz, who was clean through on goal – Birmingham were arguably the better side before the dismissal.
In the 85th minute, Whites substitute Liam McCarron nearly scored with a well-hit left footed strike but the ball narrowly missed the target as Leeds could not make their man advantage count.
Here is some of the reaction from the Elland Road faithful on social media at full time:
Leeds will be back in action in a fortnight’s time against the same opposition, this time away (Leeds website).
