Leeds United left-back Tom Pearce has been named in the England Under-20s side to compete in the Maurice Revello Tournament.

The Young Lions will take on Japan, Portugal and Chile in their group stage, seeking to retain a title which they have held for the last three years.

Pearce played for England in their win last summer and has been drafted in once again, with Paul Simpson’s charges aiming for their fourth triumph in a row.

The 21-year-old has endured a difficult time at Elland Road over the past year, going from being linked with several Premier League teams to losing his place under Marcelo Bielsa.

Pearce signed a new contract with Leeds last June but in January was shipped out on loan to Scunthorpe United, who were relegated from League One this season.

Indeed, the Yorkshire Evening Post claimed earlier this week that the full-back is one of several players that the Whites are willing to listen to offers for.

Despite his difficult year at Leeds, a few of the Whites faithful nonetheless tweeted their support after the club announced him call-up on the social media platform:

Pearce will no doubt be hoping to impress in Toulon with regards to either giving Bielsa food for thought or, if his time at Elland Road truly is up, putting himself in the shop window in terms of a move away to another good club.
