The Whites midfielder celebrated his 19th birthday with a winning Northern Ireland Under-21s debut and the PDL-North title.
Leeds United midfielder Alfie McCalmont had a birthday to remember on Monday, making his debut for Northern Ireland’s Under-21s in a 2-1 triumph over Mexico’s Under-22s, while the club’s development side won their league on the same day.
The 19-year-old was named in Ian Baraclough’s starting XI for the game at the Estadio Municipal de Marbella, which ended up being their sixth consecutive victory thanks to Shayne Lavery’s 87th minute winner.
Northern Ireland had to come from behind as Pablo Lopez put the Mexicans – who finished the game with nine men – in front in the 16th minute, but David Parkhouse drew them level just before the hour mark before Everton-owned Lavery struck late on.
While McCalmont was helping his nation continue their winning streak, the Whites Under-23s were crowned champions of Premier League Professional Development League Group North back on home shores.
